THE AMAZING RACE: ASIA - SEASON TWO - EPISODE 1 - THE TIMELINE:

Money for this leg: $46.00.

DAY ONE:

Singapore, the home of discarded paper underwear, orchids named after British politicians, wackily located apartments, and the production offices of TAR Asia. Allan Wu introduces us to the teams competing this season. In order of likelihood to get naked during the race, they are:

A) Adrian/Collin, Gym Buddies (NOTE: One of these two is hearing-impaired, but various sources differ on which one.)
B) Ann/Diane, Dancing Mums
C) Brett/Kinaryosih [Kinar], Dating Two Years, Indonesia
D) Daichi/Sawaka, Brother/Sister, Japan
E) Edwin/Monica, Dating Ten Years
F) Paula/Natasha, Childhood Friends
G) Rovilson/Marc, Best Buddies, Philippines
H) Sophie/Aurelia, Ex-Housemates, Hong Kong
I) Terri/Henry, Married 13 Years, Philippines
J) Vanessa/Pamela, Sisters

At the Asian Civilisations Museum, Allan gives the teams the standard spiel about eliminations and whatnot, remarks that this leg may be an elimination, unlike last season's first leg, and reminds the teams what is at stake - the tattered remains of your dignity. Oh, and US$100,000.

When Allan says go, teams run to their backpacks and read their first clue. Inside, teams find a picture. They are told to go search taxi stands within a 300 yard (doesn't Singapore use the metric system?) radius of the museum for the taxi with the same figurine as the one shown in the picture sitting on its dashboard. Once the teams find the correct taxi, they will get their next clue.

Teams all run around like crazy and eventually find the taxi, but nowhere I can find lists the arrival order.

Teams are directed to travel to the Merlion at Faber Point, the Pit Stop for TAR3's Singapore leg, and one of the nation's best known landmarks (Way to hide the show from spoilers). They arrive in bunches:

1) Vanessa/Pamela
2) Adrian/Collin
3) Marc/Rovilson
-----
4) Sophie/Aurelia
5) Ann/Diane
6) Brett/Kinar
7) Paula/Natasha
8) Daichi/Sawaka
-----
9) Edwin/Monica
10) Terri/Henry

Teams are told to take a Nokia N95 GPS system (No! Not Product Placement! *Throws Travelocity Gnome at Michael McKay's head*) and use it to direct the driver to the next clue. These directions lead to Suntec City Mall, and the season's first...

Dare <--DETOUR--> Stair

Teams selecting DARE must take an elevator to the roof of Tower Three, and complete a Tyrolean Traverse to get to the adjacent Tower Four and the next clue. The task is quicker, but the traverse is taking place 181 metres above the ground, so it is possible that teams may chicken out.

Teams selecting STAIR must climb the stairs to the roof of Tower Three, return to the lobby, walk to Tower Four, and climb to the cluebox on the roof. Both towers are 45 floors high. The task isn't scary, but is physically demanding.

All teams choose DARE, arriving at the start of the task in the same bunches, but with Sophie/Aurelia and Ann/Diane pulling ahead of their group. They get to the top of Tower Three:
1) Adrian/Collin
2) Rovilson/Marc
3) Vanessa/Pamela
4) Sophie/Aurelia
5) Ann/Diane
6) Daichi/Sawaka
7) Paula/Natasha
8) Brett/Kinar
9) Terri/Henry (who arrive as the last teams are leaving)
10) Edwin/Monica (who arrive as the last teams are leaving)

And complete the task in the same order. The cluebox on Tower Four directs teams to fly to Manila, in the Philippines. In Manila, they must take a taxi to the CCP Complex in Asian Promenade Park to get the next clue.

The first eight teams all make it onto a Singapore Airlines (Wu-hoo! The Air Asia monopoly from last season is over!) flight to Manila, arriving in a HEAVY rainstorm. The last two teams are relegated onto a later flight.

Teams arrive at the CCP Complex:
1) Rovilson/Marc
2) Vanessa/Pamela
3) Ann/Diane
4) Adrian/Collin
5) Daichi/Sawaka
6) Brett/Kinar
7) Sophie/Aurelia
8) Paula/Natasha
9) Terri/Henry
10) Edwin/Monica

Teams are directed to find a balut seller in Plaza Miranda. When they find him, they will have to eat eight balut, a Filipino delicacy - duck eggs, with a partially formed duckling fetus inside. Apparently, it's considered an aphrodisiac, just like oysters, lamb, and tiger penis. They arrive:

1) Vanessa/Pamela
2) Rovilson/Marc
3) Adrian/Collin (who arrive and lose their cab to the departing Vanessa/Pamela)
4) Ann/Diane
5) Brett/Kinar
6) Sophie/Aurelia (who arrive as the previous two teams are leaving)
7) Paula/Natasha
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Terri/Henry
10) Edwin/Monica (who arrive after all other teams have left)

And finish in the same order, except Brett/Kinar pass Ann/Diane. Note that graphic errors are not only made by the American version - Sophie/Aurelia are labelled as finishing 7th when they were in 6th.

Teams are directed to Fort Santiago, a former Spanish fortress, and the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. Teams check in:

1) Vanessa/Pamela, who win a Nokia N73 mobile phone, and an N95 GPS like the one used in Singapore.
2) Rovilson/Marc
3) Ann/Diane
4) Brett/Kinar
5) Sophie/Aurelia
6) Paula/Natasha
7) Adrian/Collin, whose driver mistakenly went to the airport
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Terri/Henry
10) Edwin/Monica, who are not eliminated, but are Marked For Elimination. Unless they finish first at the next Pit Stop, they will be given a 30-minute penalty before being allowed to check in.

Amazing Race Asia - Season 2 Timelines Empty Re: Amazing Race Asia - Season 2 Timelines

Post  raceguy120390 Mon Jan 07, 2008 1:15 am

THE AMAZING RACE: ASIA - SEASON TWO - EPISODE 2 - THE TIMELINE:

Money given for this leg: $54.00.
Total money for the race: $100.00

LEG TWO, DAY ONE:

The ten teams depart from Fort Santiago in Manila as follows:

7:19am - Vanessa/Pamela
Rovilson/Marc
Ann/Diane
Brett/Kinar
Sophie/Aurelia
Paula/Natasha
Adrian/Collin
Daichi/Sawaka
Terri/Henry
Edwin/Monica

Teams are directed to take a taxi to the Green Star bus terminal, and then travel three hours to the Pila Laguna Municipal Center in Pila Laguna.

They travel on several buses to Pila Laguna. Buses are scheduled to leave 15 minutes apart, but that may not be the gaps between these buses:

BUS #1: Vanessa/Pamela, Marc/Rovilson (which leaves early)
BUS #2: Brett/Kinar, Ann/Diane (which leaves early)
BUS #3: Sophie/Aurelia (which leaves five minutes early)
BUS #4: Paula/Natasha (who perform for money on the bus), Adrian/Collin
BUS #5: Daichi/Sawaka
BUS #6: Terri/Henry
BUS #7: Edwin/Monica

Teams arrive in Pila Laguna, and the clue is the season's first...

R(/)ADBL(/)CK
?????????????

The chosen team member must use an carabao (ox)-driven plow to follow a figure 8 path around a rice paddy. They must travel between marked poles throughout the course to successfully finish the task. Teams are given instructions on steering the plow beforehand. If a racer is unable to steer their plow back onto the route after going off course, they can get assistance form a farmer, but must start the course again. Teams will travel to the paddy in a motortrike sidecar.

The team members performing this task, in order of arrival, are: Marc, Pamela, Kinar (who almost breaks the ox trying to ride it), Diane, Aurelia, Collin, Natasha, Daichi, Henry, Edwin.

The team members finish:
1) Marc
2) Pamela
3) Diane
4) Kinar
5) Aurelia
6) Natasha
7) Collin
8) Daichi
9) Henry
10) Edwin

Teams are told to travel back to Manila, find the Caltex Star-Mart, pick up four boxes of supplies, place them in one of ten flagged jeepneys, and deliver them to an orphanage in exchange for the next clue.

Teams get on return buses:

BUS #1: Rovilson/Marc
BUS #2: Brett/Kinar, Vanessa/Pamela (who lost time looking for a Star Mart in Pila Laguna)
BUS #3: Ann/Diane
BUS #4: Sophie/Aurelia
BUS #5: Adrian/Collin, Paula/Natasha
BUS #6: Daichi/Sawaka

Along the way, Bus #2 breaks down. Vanessa/Pamela change to a taxi, wilst Brett/Kinar wait for the bus to be repaired.

Teams arrive at the Star-Mart, and deliver their supplies to the orphanage in roughly the same order:
1) Rovilson/Marc
2) Vanessa/Pamela
3) Ann/Diane
4) Brett/Kinar
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Adrian/Collin
7) Sophie/Aurelia
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Terri/Henri
10) Edwin/Monica

The clue teams get at the orphanage is a...

Heel <--DETOUR--> Wheel

In either option, teams must continue in their jeepney to Santa Cruz, an area in the north of Manila.

Teams selecting HEEL must match 250 pairs of shoes with one another. Teams selecting HEEL are: Brett/Kinar, Adrian/Collin, Paula/Natasha, Edwin/Monica (who switch to Wheel before arriving).

Teams selecting WHEEL must completely and correctly build a bicycle using all the tools and parts provided. Teams selecting WHEEL are: Rovilson/Marc, Vanessa/Pamela, Ann/Diane, Sophie/Aurelia, Daichi/Sawaka, Terri/Henry, Edwin/Monica.

Teams arrive at their options:
1) Rovilson/Marc
2) Vanessa/Pamela
3) Ann/Diane
4) Brett/Kinar
5) Adrian/Collin
6) Paula/Natasha
7) Sophie/Aurelia
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Edwin/Monica
10) Terri/Henry

And finish:
1) Rovilson/Marc
2) Ann/Diane
3) Paula/Natasha
4) Vanessa/Pamela
5) Adrian/Collin
6) Brett/Kinar
7) Sophie/Aurelia
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Terri/Henry
10) Edwin/Monica

Teams are directed to the Pit Stop at Paco Park and Cemetery, the original resting place of a local hero, which has since been converted into a National Park, in Manila. They check in:

1) Rovilson/Marc, who each win a US$5000 credit card, from the Standard Chartered Bank.
2) Paula/Natasha
3) Ann/Diane
4) Vanessa/Pamela
5) Adrian/Collin
6) Brett/Kinar
7) Sophie/Aurelia
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Terri/Henry
10) Edwin/Monica, who are eliminated. (Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.)

THE AMAZING RACE ASIA 2 - LEG 3 TIMELINE

Money for this leg: $162.00.

Leg 3, Day 1

Teams depart from the Paco Park Pit Stop in the Philippines as follows:
2:42am - Rovilson/Marc
Paula/Natasha
Ann/Diane
Vanessa/Pamela
Adrian/Collin
Brett/Kinaryosih
Sophie/Aurelia
Daichi/Sawaka
Terri/Henry

They are directed to fly to Hong Kong, just over 1100 kilometres away, and travel to Central Pier when they arrive.

All nine teams book tickets on the same flight to Hong Kong.

When teams arrive in Hong Kong, teams either take a taxi or a train to the Central Pier, where they arrive:

1) Brett/Kinaryosih
2-8) other teams
9) Sophie/Aurelia

They are directed to head to the Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong, then count a pile of local currency. They must tell a teller the correct amount to get their next clue.

I could not find an arrival order for this route marker anywhere.

After at least two attempts and at least two hours, teams get the right total (one team gives HKD$135,023.70, but it is unclear whether all teams have the same total), and their next clue:

1) Daichi/Sawaka
2) Marc/Rovilson
3) Vanessa/Pamela
4) Ann/Diane
5) Terri/Henry
6) Paula/Natasha
7) Brett/Kinaryosih
8) Sophie/Aurelia
9) Adrian/Collin

Teams are now directed to fly to Auckland, New Zealand. When they land, they must search the airport parking lot for a marked car, which has their next clue inside. Because, you know, China is only good in small doses on TAR: Asia, as opposed to TAR US, where there are only three seasons that don't visit either it or India - and one of them was Family Edition.

No, seriously:

1: India (Delhi, assorted smaller cities), China (Beijing)
2: China (Hong Kong)
3: neither visited
4: India (Mumbai, Alleppey, Kochi)
5: India (Kolkata)
6: China (Shanghai, Xi'An)
7: India (Lucknow, Jodhpur)
8 (FE): neither visited
9: neither visited
10: China (Beijing), India (Chennai)
11 (AS): China (Hong Kong, Macau)
12: India (Mumbai), China (Taiwan)

Back to the show, and all nine teams get the same flight to Auckland.

Leg 3, Day 2

They arrive in Auckland, find their cars, and are directed to get to the Howick Historical Village. Because nothing says "modern city" like a historical village. They arrive:

1) Rovilson/Marc
2) Ann/Diane
3) Adrian/Collin
4) Paula/Natasha
5) Sophie/Aurelia
6) Terri/Henry
7) Vanessa/Pamela
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Brett/Kinar

We clearly haven't had enough product placement this week, so teams are given a Sony Cybershot digital camera, just like the ones you see at YOUR local historical village, and are directed to take photographs of three objects in the village: the gravestone of Mary Syms, a painting by Robert McClain, and a statue called A Poke for a Pig. When they have all three, they must show them to a person waiting outside the village courthouse to get the next clue. They finish this task:

1) Marc/Rovilson
2) Ann/Diane
3) Paula/Natasha
4) Sophie/Aurelia
5) Terri/Henry
6) Adrian/Collin
7) Vanessa/Pamela
8) Daichi/Sawaka
9) Brett/Kinaryosih

The next clue is a:

R(/)ADBL(/)CK
"Who wants to take a plunge?"

The chosen team member must bungy jump 40 metres from the Auckland Harbour Bridge. When the jump is completed, the next clue will be given. This task first requires a trip to the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

RANT OF THE WEEK: I love the idea that TAR: Asia has of making them travel to the RoadBlock after they get the clue. Yes, it takes away some of the teams' shock value, to an extent, but on the other hand, it's a lot harder to tell what the task will be, which I think is a great idea. Plus, you get to see reactions like Terri/Henry's in this episode.

The chosen team members finish it:
1) Rovilson
2) Natasha
3) Terri
4) Vanessa
5) Adrian
6) Sophie
7) Diane
8) Sawaka
9) Brett

The clue they get after the RoadBlock is a:

Wall <--DETOUR--> Waka

Teams selecting WALL must drive themselves to the Birkenhead Leisure Center, and scale an indoor climbing wall. Each player must climb the wall to get a flag, then one of them must climb again to get the next clue. The player not climbing the wall at any given time must belay for their teammate. Hours of operation for this task are not revealed, but the task is open later than Waka.

Teams selecting WAKA must drive themselves to Lake Papuke (correct pronunciation: "pap-oo-key"), choose an outrigger canoe, then paddle a course, retrieving three flags before returning to the start to get the next clue. Hours of operation for this task are 7am to 6pm.

Daichi/Sawaka are the only team to originally choose Waka, but Ann/Diane and Paula/Natasha switch before starting the wall, and the difficulty of the wall causes Terri/Henry, Pamela/Vanessa, Sophie/Aurelia, and Brett/Kinaryosih to switch.

They finish:
1) Marc/Rovilson
2) Adrian/Collin
3) Paula/Natasha
4) Terri/Henry
5) Ann/Diane
6) Pamela/Vanessa
7) Daichi/Sawaka
8) Sophie/Aurelia
9) [uh... no]

They are directed to drive to the Ascension Vineyard, on the Matakana coast just outside of Auckland, to get their next clue.

1) Marc/Rovilson
2) Adrian/Collin
3) Ann/Diane
4) Pamela/Vanessa
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Terri/Henry
7) Daichi/Sawaka
8) Sophie/Aurelia
9) [elevator music]

The clue at the winery directs them to travel to Spookers Haunted House, which was converted from the Kingseat Psychiatric Hospital. They must walk through the entire haunted house to get their next clue. They arrive and walk through the house:

1) Marc/Rovilson
2) Adrian/Collin
3) Ann/Diane
4) Paula/Natasha
5) Terri/Henry
6) Daichi/Sawaka
7) Vanessa/Pamela, who were in a car crash, and were delayed by about 30 minutes as the police were called
8) Sophie/Aurelia
9) [a werewolf howls at the moon]

The final clue of this leg directs teams to take a hurricane lamp and travel on foot, along a marked path, to the Forest Of Fear, the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. They check in:

1) Marc/Rovilson, who win a year's worth of petrol from Caltex. So that's three different companies getting product placements in one leg. Ugh.
2) Adrian/Collin
3) Ann/Diane
4) Paula/Natasha
5) Terri/Henry
6) Daichi/Sawaka
7) Vanessa/Pamela
8) Sophie/Aurelia
9) Brett/Kinaryosih, who were given the Pity Clue Of Doom at the Waka Detour, and are eliminated.

THE AMAZING RACE ASIA 2 - LEG 5a TIMELINE[b]

Money for this leg: not revealed.

[b]Leg 5a, Day 1

Teams depart from the Pit Stop outside of Rotorua, New Zealand as follows:

12:46am - Marc/Rovilson
Adrian/Collin
Paula/Natasha
Ann/Diane
Daichi/Sawaka
Vanessa/Pamela*
Terri/Henry*

*These two teams are shown with incorrect time captions. I assume they were accidentally switched.

Teams are directed to drive from Rotorua to Auckland International Airport, then fly to Tokyo. When they land, they must get to Shiba Park and find their next clue.

At the airport, all counters are closed until 4am. But, when it opens, every team gets tickets on the same midnight flight.

Leg 5a, Day 2

They arrive in Tokyo and take trains from Narita International Airport into Tokyo Station. The first six teams are all on the same train into the city, but Terri/Henry take a later train after being confused about which train to take.

Teams all have trouble deciding how to get to Shiba Park, and from there finding the cluebox, but they eventually do, as follows:
1) Marc/Rovilson
2) Daichi/Sawaka
3) Adrian/Collin
4) Ann/Diane
5) Terri/Henry
6=) Paula/Natasha
6=) Pamela/Vanessa

Teams are now told to direct a waiting rickshaw driver to the Sony Building in Tokyo's Ginza district, where they will find their next clue. They arrive:

1) Daichi/Sawaka
2) Marc/Rovilson
3) Ann/Diane
4) Adrian/Collin
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Pamela/Vanessa
7) Terri/Henry

Teams are told to take a S[h]on[k]y HD Handicam out into the streets and convince someone to let them record them singing "Sakura", a traditional Japanese song about cherry blossoms, and not at all a ripoff of last season's Click Go The Shears task in Sydney. They must then return to the Sony Building and show their recording to the judge. If the tune is correct and audible, with the correct lyrics, the team will get their next clue. They succeed in this task:

1) Daichi/Sawaka
2) Marc/Rovilson, who failed the task twice
3) Ann/Diane
4) Adrian/Collin
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Vanessa/Pamela, who failed the task once
7) Terri/Henry, who failed the task once

The clue directs teams to get to the Shibuya district, home to the boring Hachiko statue and Detour from TAR9, and find the girl dressed as her favourite anime character. The girl is shown in a photo on a Cybersh?t camera, because this form of costumery (which may or may not be a real word) is called cosplay, and is common in Japan. Each team has a photograph of a different girl. The girl will give them the next clue when they find her. This happens:

1) Daichi/Sawaka
2) Marc/Rovilson
3) Ann/Diane
4) Adrian/Collin
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Pamela/Vanessa
7) Terri/Henry

The clue is this week's

Catch It <--DETOUR--> Cart It

Teams selecting CATCH IT must use traditional paddles to catch 40 goldfish. The catch? The paddles are made of rice paper, which dissolve almost immediately after becoming wet. Teams selecting this option are Vanessa/Pamela, Paula/Natasha (who chose the other option but found this by mistake), Terri/Henry.

Teams selecting CART IT must find a nearby dry cleaner, take a Yukata (a casual kimono), and deliver it on foot to an address nearby. The catch? Trying to navigate Tokyo's confusing streets could take up valuable time. Teams selecting this option are Daichi/Sawaka (who chose this, found the other option by mistake, attempted it, and switched), Marc/Rovilson, Adrian/Collin (who chose the other option, but switched after finding out its location), Ann/Diane.

The Detour is completed:

1) Daichi/Sawaka
2) Marc/Rovilson
3) Ann/Diane
4) Adrian/Collin
5) Paula/Natasha
6) Vanessa/Pamela
7) Terri/Henry

The next task is a:

R(/)ADBL(/)CK
"Who is cold and calculating?"

The teams must travel to the Icebar Tokyo. Once there, the chosen team member must put on cold-weather gear, enter the bar, and solve an ice puzzle. The answer is one of Japan's largest cities. Once they have the correct answer, they will be given the next clue. If the players need to, they may leave the bar at anytime to get warm before returning to finish the task.

The RoadBlocker finishes:
1) Sawaka, who makes one wrong guess before giving Fukuoka, the correct answer.
2) Rovilson, who makes three wrong guesses.
3) Adrian, who makes three wrong guesses.
4) Ann, who makes two wrong guesses.
5) Paula, who makes two wrong guesses.
6) Pamela, who makes one wrong guess.
7) Henry, who makes one wrong guess, and has to look at Pamela's answer to get it right.

The next clue is given to the RoadBlocker encased in ice. They must take it outside the Icebar to their partner, and then open it. When they open it, they are told to go to the Shinagawa train station, and take a Shinkansen (bullet train) to Fukuoka, a harbour city 1100 kilometres away on the Japanese island of Kyushu. There, they have to find the pyramid at the Fukuoka International Congress Center. Allan tells us that this is the Pit Stop and the last team to check in may be eliminated, because he lies to us even more than the press releases for TAR12. (That said, of course, it did make the TBC a lot more surprising.)

Leg 5a, Day 3

The next Shinkansen from Tokyo to Fukuoka isn't until 6am. All teams are on it, making the entire last 55 minutes or so of racing footage entirely pointless. Just another TBC. But don't they normally save the bunching to the following episode?

In Fukuoka, teams run for taxis and take them to the "Pit Stop".

RANT OF THE WEEK: You know, I really do try and be as impartial as possible when writing these things, but Marc/Rovilson need to get the fuck off my computer screen. NOW. If you're going to mug for the camera, you are not being genuine, and you should not be cast for a reality show. If you're going to put on fake moustaches and pretend to be lost only to find the mat and... wait, are Marc/Rovilson the Hippies in disguise?

Ahem. The teams arrive at the mat:

1) Ann/Diane, first for the first time in the race. But, this is not a Pit Stop, the race is still on, and we see the three words we've all come to know and hate.

To. Be. Continued.
